Farmer Land Compensation Case: KIADB Assures Payment by August 31

Ramanagara, August 11: In a case where farmers alleged that the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) had not provided compensation despite acquiring their land 40 years ago, KIADB officials have assured the court that they will deposit the compensation amount by August 31, as per the court order.

Background of the case:

The land of farmers was acquired for the Bidadi Industrial Area in Ramanagara taluk. However, due to non-receipt of suitable compensation, the farmers had filed a petition (LAC 33/91) in the Ramanagara Senior Civil Court. In 2020, a decree was passed in favor of the farmers regarding this petition.

KIADB had filed an appeal against this, which was dismissed in 2024. After this, KIADB did not file an appeal and was delaying the payment of approximately Rs 10 crore 65 lakh 50 thousand as compensation to the farmers who had lost their land.

Warrant and Joint Agreement:

Due to non-payment of compensation, the farmers had filed an execution case. The lower court had issued an attachment warrant for the movable properties of the KIADB office, ignoring the court's instructions. When court officials and farmers' lawyers arrived for the attachment process, KIADB officials gave an undertaking to pay the compensation amount by August 31.

Court officials, farmers, and lawyers have agreed to this request.

Clarification by Officials:

"KIADB regularly provides compensation in cases that have been finalized in the Supreme Court and the High Court. In this case as well, the compensation amount will be deposited by the end of this month, as per the court order," KIADB officials assured.

High Court lawyers M Shiva Prakash, Devendra, Ramanagara Court Amin, and farmers Vijay Kumar, Rajesh, Ravi Kumar, Mohan Reddy, and others were present on the occasion.
