Karnataka Minister Portfolio Allocation: D K Shivakumar Gets Key Departments

Bengaluru, August 12: Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot has allocated portfolios to the ministers based on the advice of the Chief Minister and issued a notification. According to the notification issued on August 12, 2026, the portfolio allocation will come into effect immediately.

As per the notification, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has been allocated key departments such as Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Intelligence, Information, Law and Justice and Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation, Agricultural Marketing, Urban and Rural Planning, among others. The Chief Minister has also taken charge of the vacant and unallocated departments.

The portfolio allocation of the ministers is as follows:

- B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan – Housing

- Ramalinga Reddy – Forest, Ecology, and Environment

- Laxman Savadi – Cooperation; excluding Agricultural Marketing

- Rudrapatna Manappa Lamani – Sugar and Textiles

- K H Muniyappa – Social Welfare

- Shivraj Thangadagi – Backward Classes Welfare, Kannada and Culture

- U T Abdul Khader – Minority Welfare, Haj and Wakf, Health and Family Welfare

- T Raghumurthy – Scheduled Castes Welfare

- Dr Ajay Singh – Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology

- Cheluvarayaswamy – Major and Medium Irrigation

- Madhu Bangarappa – Primary and Secondary Education

- Basavaraj Rayareddy – Higher Education

- Shivalingegowda – Excise

- Puttarangashetty – Animal Husbandry and Sericulture

- Vijayananda Kashappanavar – Small Scale Industries, Public Enterprises

- Santosh Lad – Labour and Employment

- K S Basavanthappa – Muzrai, Fisheries, Ports, and Inland Water Transport

- S S Mallikarjun – Mines and Geology, Horticulture

- Rizwan Arshad – Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs

- Narendra Swamy – Agriculture

- H C Balakrishna – Urban Development

- B Nagendra – Planning and Statistics

According to the notification from the Raj Bhavan, a total of 23 ministers have been allocated various portfolios. This officially divides the administrative responsibilities of the various state government departments among the ministers. The notification has been signed by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.
